DS Webbrowser Quite Possibly Coming to America.

Bye now everybody who pays attention to gaming news should know that Nintendo will be teaming up with the makers of Opera to make a webbrowser for the DS. But what everybody doesn't know is wether or not the software will ever make it out of Japan. Well to try and answer this question I fired off a letter to NOA asking them if it would ever come to America. There reply can be seen below. Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,Thanks for sharing your interest in the Nintendo DS Lite and the web browser. As you already know, that game has been announced for release in Japan. So far, there hasn't been an official announcement of a release outside of that market. There are many reasons that Nintendo or any other Japanese publisher may decide to release a product solely for the Japanese market. These can include difficulty or cost of localization, the size and financial strength of the publisher, and (most often) the idea that the product will simply not be accepted or enjoyed in other markets. However, there are (like you) real fans of those games or products in this market who would love nothing more than to see these products on store shelves here. I understand (and sometimes even share) your frustration! Having said that, please understand that those fans constitute a very small portion of the gaming public, too small to justify the costs associated with bringing a product here. Of course, you never know what the future holds, as evidenced by the appearance in this market of previously Japan-only franchises like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem. Keep an eye on our website (http://www.nintendo.com/newsmain) for all the latest news as it becomes available. Thanks for your email and good luck with all your games!Nintendo of America Inc. Bruce Mann What does this mean to Nintendo fans? Well it basically just depends on the conditions. If there is a large amount of gamers in America looking forward to this game chances are that it will make it over, but we'll just have to wait and see.
