Resident Evil 4 Goes Players Choice.

Now you can have all the chainsaw wielding action of the recent GameCube hit for just $20. I personally have never played it and never will either but for those of you who wanted it but couldn't afford it should have no problem now. Resident Evil 4 has been a huge success in america selling over 600k units since it was released becoming one of the most popular Cube titles on the market.

Jim Merrick Replacement.

Today Nintendo of Europe announced who will be taking over Jim Merricks position. Laurent Fischer who is replacing Jim used to work for Nintendo of France as marketing director before being transferred to NOE where he will now take over. So let's give him a big good luck and suck up to him hoping he will tell us as much about the revolution as ol' Jim Merrick did.

DS Original to DS Lite Video Comparison.

Although it's just a CG Lite this video accurately reflects the size of the Lite compared to the original DS. Watching this video makes me want a blue DS rather than my silver one. :P

Nintendo a candidate for Cisco takeover?

You heard me right the Nintendo and Tivo are both prime targets for the home entertainment company this Cnet article. But why would somebody like to aquire a company like Nintendo? One word, Microsoft. Microsoft as of late has been becoming more of a threat to the company in the entertainment industry. Aquiring Nintendo and it's popular line of consoles and handhelds would give the corporate giant a large boost. All of this is just speculation of course and should be taken with a grain of salt. Nintendo in the past has said before that they are not up for sale so it would make it very hard for Cisco to aquire them. Stay tuned for more information if it surfaces.

Behind the Controller first edition.

Welcome to the first ever edition of Behind the Controller! What is Behind the Controller you ask? Well there's a "B" trigger... um... nevermind. Behind the Controller is a new article that will explore the depths of the Revolution controller by creating a new game around it and explaining just how it would work. So sit back grab a cup of... whatever it is you drink and enjoy this special article.

Ultimate Revolution game: Demon Lair Adventure game concept by Linkman2004
Gameplay: Gameplay will be like nothing ever seen before. The game will use two free style remotes through the entire game. You will start out with a sword and a shield using a free style remote for each one moving them around to block and attack. Once you reach a certain part in the game many different weapons will be available to you and you will be able to combine them, such as two swords, or a bow and arrow. The bow would be handled much like an FPS movement by moving around the controller aiming. Pressing and holding the "B" trigger will load the bow and you will release it to fire. Sometimes there will be horse based combat also where the character is given just one sword. For movement you'll hold both controllers out in front and hold the "B" triggeras if you're holding the reins and with a whip of the reins will get your horse moving, the more you whip the faster you'll go. To steer the horse left or right it will be much like a real horse move both controllers to the right to go right, and move both controllers to the left to move left. When you want to use your sword let go of the reins with the hand that has the sword by letting go of "B" and start swinging, this will make you less stable on your horse and more likely to fall off with fewer hits from an enemy. But beware if you let go of both reins while the horse is moving to fast you'll fall off leaving you to an untimely death with whatever evil is lurking near by. Movement will be done using the d-pad on the left remote. Pressing up will walk forward, pressing back will step back, and left and right will rotate your character. To jump you will press up on the right controller d-pad, to duck press down, and to strafe left or right press the appropriate dirrection.

DS Lite in Color!

Some people myself included don't want to be limited to one hardware color choice, which is why I have rigged up some shots of my own DS Lite model in different colors and also from an angly never seen before. I used the same color choices which might be availible for the Revolution so you can have a matching system. Sorry about the quality of the images dang blogger won't let me upload PNG's.

Shinta Njiri speaks on Revolution

Recently Game informer spoke to Metal Gear Acid 2 director Shinta Nojiri and asked him what he thought of the revolution.

GI: When I met with you at Tokyo Game Show, it was right after the announcement of the Revolution controller. You kind of mentioned that you were on the team that was working on that. Are you excited about with that new hardware for new productions?

Nojiri: To be completely honest, I have been wrapped up in Ac!d 2 and haven’t even touched the Revolution development kit. Nothing has been decided yet but I am very interested in the Revolution. To be 100% honest, all I have is ideas in my head. I am not working on anything.

Hopefully he will be able to put his ideas to use soon. More info as it comes.

Worms Open Warfare Screens.

Nothing like a bunch of inch long worms beating the crud out of each other. Here are six new screens of the upcoming DS strategy.

Hori Making Accessories for DS Lite.

According to someone at who has a friend that works for Hori they are making DS Lite accessories. "Yeah, we're doing screen covers and all that." The man says they have a Lite unit right there to take measurements and stuff. When asked about the screens he said "It doesn't turn on. There's nothing inside it." On the feel for the unit he said the surface feels smooth, the buttons click like the DS's current buttons, though the D-pad feels like that of the GameBoy Micro "It feels solid." No word yet on what other accesories are in the works yet but most likely cases will be coming and out in time for launch. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.

New Tetris DS Facts and Screens

Today Nintendo released facts and two new screenshots of it's highly anticipated title Tetris DS. The screens show a more classic tetris look rather than the new nintendo based themes. Here the playfield is spanning both screens to give the player more room to work with.

Also with the screenshots were new details on the game about gameplay modes.

Nintendo’s greatest characters team up with one of the most popular games of all time. * Every mode in Tetris DS features a theme based on a famous Nintendo character.

* Up to 10 players can clash using DS Download Play to form a Tetris DS match of massive proportions, all with just one game card.

* Using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, up to four players can compete in wireless two- or four-player battles against friends or strangers, near or far.

Characters: Each game mode features a theme based on a famous Nintendo character or game. How to progress through the game: The game has six game modes to choose from. Information will be released periodically about each mode.

Standard: This Mario-themed mode features the same addictive game play that made the original Tetris so wildly popular. Players guide falling Tetriminos (falling blocks) and form horizontal lines to clear them away. Mario™ runs around Super Mario Bros.® levels in the background.

Touch: This unique take on Tetris really shows off the touch-screen capability of Nintendo DS. Players use a stylus to drag and move Tetriminos in a giant stack to make them fall into horizontal lines. In early levels, they can tap Tetriminos to spin them just the way they need them. Players have as much time as they need to carefully plan their moves, so it plays very differently from the other frantic modes.

I'm currently skeptical weather touch screen play will actually offer an awesome new way to play or if it will just come off a pain in the rear, but I'll have to hold off final judgement till I have it in my hands.

Midway looking for Level Layout Designers for Revolution game.

Okay so it's not just for Revolution but midway on their site recently posted a job listing for Level Layout Designers for a First Person Shooter game for all three next gen consoles. Level Layout DesignerMidway Studios Austin - Austin, Texas PS3, XBOX 360, Nintendo Revolution Next Generation First Person Shooter - 1st Person, SHOOTER Game Designer Duties: Level Designer / World Building, Scripting / Shell Programming Software Utilized: Unreal Spoken Language(s): English Required Work Auth.: United States Job Description and Responsibilities: Description: Midway-Studios Austin has exciting opportunities for Level Layout Designers to apply their specialized skills on a high profile, next-generation first-person shooter using the Unreal 3 engine. Now what's interesting about this is they say it will be using the Unreal 3 engine. Nobody knows yet if the Revolution will be able to run the Unreal 3 engine. The controversial VP of Epic studios once said that if they ever got a dev kit he would like to see if it would be possible to port the engine on to said console. So either Midway knows something we don't about Unreal 3 for revolution or they're just hoping that it will support it, either way though this is good for the revolution as the system will need heavy third-party support if it is to succeed.

DS Lite unveiled!

Today Nintendo revealed their newly redesigned Nintendo DS the DS Lite. The system is for the most part the same as the original but in a much smaller package. The new design following there newest design trend is very much like an Ipod. The microphone is now below the top screen where it will be easier to use. The power indicators have now been moved onto the right hinge where they will be constantly visible weather the system is closed or open. The speakers have also been more centered. A few of the other changes are instead of a power button it has a "flick-switch", the start and select buttons have been moved below the a,b,x,y buttons, and the unit now has a glossy white finish. But the biggest change is in the screens. The screens are now just as bright as the new SP but rather than just two levels of brightness it now has four depending on how bright the sunlight is. Below is a picture of the new unit in all its glossy white glory.
